The value of the educational technology is neutral. Its value depends on how to apply it effectively. This study demonstrates the process of second grade students’ self-learning of the course “The Small Dann-Shoei Town” in the Chinese Language Class by using the digital learning Hyperbook system, a tool developed for Computer-Aided Learning(CAL). This system combines the merits of textbooks and CAL tools. It can help learners to adapt to the new digital learning environment. The results show that children can understand the knowledge about the Dann-Shoei city through this digital learning system, and moreover, they can recognize and learn the meaning of new words and expressions.
