本文根據內政部及衛生署統計資料，分析國人平均壽命及銀髮族健康狀況，並以「預防」及「保健」為前提；從循環系統（心血管）疾病、骨骼肌肉系統疾病、內分泌及代謝疾病、眼耳等器官疾病、消化系統疾病、泌尿系統疾病、呼吸系統疾病等七種銀髮族常見疾病中，依照各系統分別選擇銀髮族常見疾病，解釋其病徵，選擇合適、簡易取得的藥膳，說明其所需的中藥、用量、功用及作法， 以達到銀髮族之藥膳保健的目的。
