This study is exploring the background, development, and characteristics of the university of applied sciences in Germany. Relying on documents and observations of some universities of applied science (UAS), we come to following point: the university of applied science has a role in the training the students for industry. The education of UAS is based on industry and market as its strong foundation, so that practical training and employability are its purposes. Consequently, systematic courses are for specific goals. They are integrated in the teaching and research of UAS. At the same line, the faculties of UAS are closely working with the industry. They are supplemented with the rich experiences from the practice. That means, the instructional quality must be fit the demand of the employers. The example of the German UAS could be taken to implement Taiwan's education in the technology institutes or universities to Meet the request of the industry and the demand of the market.
