This paper discourses the Regimen thoughts in the “Chun JIa Bao” (《傳家寶》) and the “Xian Qung Ou Ji” (《閒情偶寄》). The “Chun JIa Bao” proposed three main ideas for cultivating the mind, which are the four-method thoughts, the tips to be happy, and ten things you should avoid to find happiness. In the Regimen thought, cultivating the mind is the most important thing for longevity. It means how people cultivate moral humility, and be benevolent to achieve longevity. The “Xian Qung Ou Ji” is Li Ue’s (李漁) experience in life cultivation and life prolongation. The book discusses a great number of life cultivation tips, which includes how to be happy all the time, how to avoid sadness, how to eat properly, how to control the sensation of lust, and how to prevent and treat diseases. It is worth mentioning that the so-called treatment is not how a physician treats patients, but means a positive and optimistic attitude, which increases the pleasures of life and lets people forget the pain and illness. A six-point summary of this paper follows, turning your brain off for a sufficient sleep, taking a half-an-hour walk after dinner, not getting angry all the time, preventing from diseases, always keeping good will, and listening some music. The Regimen is not only a well saying, but need to practice in our daily life. Give yourself time to make internal shifts and you will see positive results.
