”I Ching”(Book of Change), one of the most valuable treasures of Chinese culture, whose idea ”humanity follows the rule of universe” has directed attitudes and behaviors of Chinese people for several millenniums. However many scholars along the history paid their attention to ”Yi Zhan(divination)” , emphasized that the divine decides the good and bad fortune, and therefore try to direct people's behaviors based on the results of analysis of the signs of divination. This misuse of ”I Ching” painted it with mystical color, and furthermore, caused great limitation of its application. This research reviewed related ancient and modern literature and adopt case study method to try to explain why focus on divination is not the correct path in using ”I Ching” today. The results of divination just showed the consequences to come, thus develops negative thoughts of ”meets one's fate with resignation.” However, if people just ignore the foreseen consequences, but to focus on what should or should not to be done, then the ”I Ching” can be very influential in practice of management. Findings of this research showed, ”I Ching” is the study of a self-decision-making management process, its effect is not only to tell, more importantly, is to instruct the right paths for us to carry out. In addition, this research then to propose ”I Ching” for modern management applications.
