This paper is to investigate the relevance of beliefs, learning strategies and learning outcomes of non-Japanese department learners in National Chiayi University. By using Autonomy Inventory Language Learning (AILL), the results are put in order as follow: (a) the learning purposes are sundry, for example, enhancing competitiveness, being fond of Japanese drama, anime, social culture or travel, and increasing employment opportunities, etc.; (b) more than 80% of students are very satisfied with Japanese course, would like to continue to learn Japanese Language in the future; (c) although learner's autonomy and strategies degrees will increase with learning experience, but there is no statistical gender difference of beliefs, learning strategies and outcome; (d) if learner's autonomy higher, then higher strategy degrees. However, there is no difference on gender; (e) Besides affective strategies, will the use of other learning strategies be received by self-decision- making, learning management, Japanese language improvement and self-efficiency in order.
