1995 年杜修蘭出版女同志小說「逆女」，得到「第一屆皇冠大眾小說獎」首獎，並在2001 年的六月翻拍成電視劇。「逆女」中描述了一位同志女兒丁天使如何在二十世紀的台灣社會中展現出對自己的同志認同感，以及在面對破碎的家庭時，與母親之間的感情衝突。不論在東方或是西方的歷史中，女女關係(包括了母女，朋友，與女同志)鮮少被討論或是被視為重要。例如中國傳統五倫 (夫婦，父子，兄弟，君臣，朋友)關係中，沒有一項提到女人與女人之間的關係。即使在朋友項目中，也是主要在談論男子之間的朋友關係。然而，這種被沒視的女女關係都在在證明了中國傳統社會中女性地位的低落，只有視女性為傳宗接代的工具罷了。直至18世紀，西方國家開始探討姐妹之間的情誼(包含了母女關係)與母職相關的各種議題。而女性主義漸漸對母職持兩種不同的看法：一種是視母職為女權運動發展的阻礙；另一種則是認為推崇母職可以增進母女之間的關係，甚至進而擴展至全世界女性的聯結。本篇文章將探討逆女中女兒丁天使與母親之間的情感糾葛。身為同志與重男輕女的家庭裡，丁天使如何找尋到自己的性別認同，如何反抗在眼裡只有大兒子的母親，以及憐憫在家裡一直都是沒有聲音的外省父親。本篇文獻探討將提出西方對於提升女女關係的不同觀點，透過前伊底帕斯（Pre-Oedipal Stage）情節的理論進而証明雖然丁天使與母親時常存在著仇恨與衝突，但母女之間情感的臍帶最終是無法被剪斷的。

The novel Ni Nü, by Du Xiu-lan, was published in 1995 and won the Crown Publisher’s Popular Novel Award. In June 2001, the issue of lesbianism emerged again in Taiwan when TTV broadcast the drama adapted from the novel of the same title. The novel depicts Angel Ding who grows up in a natal family with a dominant mother and a voiceless veteran father. As a lesbian, Angel faces conflicts between homosexuality and heterosexuality, and between motherhood and daughterhood. However, women’s relationship with women (including mother-daughter, friends, and lesbians), both in Western and Chinese histories, are accorded less attention than the relationships with men or children. Since ancient times, women are often regarded as the tool of reproduction. It was not until the feminist movement in the beginning of eighteenth century that the issue of sisterhood and motherhood was debated in western countries. Two debates in regards to motherhood emerged: one regards motherhood as depreciating women’s status; the other promotes motherhood as a common experience among women, which encourages the co-operation between women, the bonds between mothers and daughters, and the sisterhood in lesbianism. This article will discuss the bonds and conflicts between Angel and her mother. How Angel finds her own lesbian identity in a typical family with a dominant mother who only adores the eldest son? In addition, this article will also discuss some feminist theories and the theory of Pre-Oedipal stage in order to prove that lesbian daughters actually reveal an unbreakable and profound love toward the mother figure.
