Religious activities have been one of the most important aspects in human social life. New religion movements have always been occurring as religious parties and their faiths changing with the changes of social life-style in history. Since it has been inevitable that conflicts, contradicions and struggles always follow the process of social changes, new religion movements could not avoid the disconnection with traditions during the process of seeking for survival and development. In such a process of accommondation and integration, educational system has always played the role of facilitating the interpersonal communication and understanding. For the purpose of analyzing the problems of religious faith and religious education related to new religion movements,this study firstly started with some anomie events of new religion movements in some areas of the world in recent two decades for exploring their his torical, political, social, and psycological causes background. Subsequently, the nature of new religion movements,their beliefs, and the theoretical views of forming them were discussed. After that, the current situation and contents of new religion movement in Taiwan were then analyzed and examined. In the last part, the types of relgious education and its conditions of implementation were distinguished at first; then the standpoints of the United States and Japan on religious educaiton in schooling were investigated; finally, the possible direction and model of religious education curriculum in various levels of schools in Taiwan was discussed, and some practicable suggestions were also proposed.
