The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors affecting vistitors' perception of recreational conflict in the region of religious tour, and to analyze the difference of pilgrims and outdoor recreationists' perception of recreational conflict. Shouh-Tain temple in Song-Bor-Ling where is the most famous center of Toaism had been chosen for the study area. Many Taiwanese people believe in Toaism, therefore the pilgrimage in this area are frequent. At the same time Song-Bor-Ling is a beautiful scenic spot, so there were many hikers or outdoor recreationists came here. The study result show that there are signal difference between two different characteris-tic groups, and the visitors' perception of conflict is significantly related to the following factors: the satistaction of environment Bvisitors' expected experience Bbehavior of other groups Bvisitors attitude toward environment development. Consequently when someone is planning this type of religional area he should considering the impact of pilgrimage and restricting visitors behavior appropriately, setting apart different kinds of visitors who have different recreational purpose, and to reduce the recreational conflict and to promote the satisfaction of recreational qualiyt.
