　　　　　市民社會(civil society)一詞在晚近學術界引起熱型的討論，本文首先分析這波理論熱潮的結構性原因。其次，後馬克思主義的政治理論出現，批判原先的階級中心論以及對於民主問題的忽略，重新將市民社會當成重要的概念，也是一個值得注意的面向。最後，後馬克思主義者 Cohen, Arato, Keane 等人的理論建構則是本文討論的焦點，筆者認為，應該採取一個更謹慎小心的態度，而不是對於當前的市民社會抱持過度樂觀的期望。
