The kinship terms in Bai language have clear distinction on relatives of a senior generation,but not so obvious distinction on the same or younger generations,which reflects the higher social status of senior generation. In history of Bai nationality,there were consanguineous marriage between male and female of the same generation. The matriarchal culture feature on title reflects the"value male but not neglect female"feature of Bai society,and it can be showed from the kinship term subordinating wife,the phenomenon that male use female title as well as the difference between Bai style title and Chinese language style title. In the kinship terminology in Bai language,fictive kinship terms is common.
