歷來對道家的語言觀,已有既定的通解,即[道絕名言],[道不可道],然而本論文試圖證
明莊子中,有異於通解的語言層面--道言.道言的使用,或有多種樣式,而莊子直接的暗示,
見於寓 言 天下兩篇,即寓言 重言 卮言三種言.三言乃莊子回應孔子 老子,與惠施 公孫
龍之語言觀, 有所批判繼承反省超越,而首先創用的表法.此表法的特色,在於由道的體證
直接發聲,故為[道]之呈示,不只是擬仿於道而已. 論文共分四章.第一章導論,論證道
言之發現,及其與三言之關係,並說明論文方法與選例因由. 第二章 以[逍遙游][人間
世] [齊物論]為例,說明三言呈現風貌之特色 . 第三章 分析寓言篇所隱涵三言的後設
意義,並與前一章的結果相對照. 第四章則延伸出兩方面的討論,一是類比於詩性語言
的創作法(即賦比興),一是藝術作品的閱讀反應(即象罔).
Historically there is already a defined opinion of Toaist Language,that"words
can not express Tao"(道不可道). However this thesis attempts
to demonstrate tha
t in Chuang Tzu there is another linguistic level , a "Language of Tao ", which
may have many modes. Within two portions of Chuang Tzu Yu Yen(寓
言), and Tien Xia(天下), he specifically indicates three modes
of discourse: "sayi
ng from a lodging-place(寓言)","weighted saying (重言)",and
"spillover saying(卮言
)".In these three modes of discourse, Chuang Tzu is responding to views of lang
uage previously expounded in Confucius and Lao Tzu, as well as
by his contempora
ries Hui Shi(惠施)and Gung Sun-Lung(公孫龍). However, Chuang
Tzu''''s Language of T
ao is distinctly his own, directly stemming from his own
understanding of the Tao. It is
a manner of expressing the Tao itself, and not only an
"representation" of his understanding
of the Tao. This thesis is divided into four sections.
The first is an introduction
demonstrating the concept of "Language of Tao", as described in the
three modes of discourse , as well as an explanation of the
methodology of this thesis. Th
e second section discusses Zhuang Zi''''s concepts of "Meandering"
( ), the World of Man and "The Equality of Everything" ( ).
The third section analyzes the meta-meaning of the three modes
of discourse, al
luded to in Yu Yen(寓言), and compares them to the conclusion
of the previous sec
tion. The fourth section first develops a comparision of the
Language of Tao to the traditional Chinese ana
lysis of poetic language, then relates it to the readers''''
