Kamejiro Matsumoto who dedicated his life in teaching Japanese language to Chinese students in Japan and China before the war is known that he taught Japanese to the largest number of Chinese students from 1903 to1945, and his commemorative events are held even now 65 years after his death. On the other hand, Tsai Mao-Feng is a Japanese language educator representing Taiwan, who has led Japanese language education in the post-war Taiwan and has put his all efforts to diffuse Japanese language. The author compared these two educators in the light of Japanese language education history, educational philosophy, perspectives for materials and teaching methods and tried to find the characteristics as Japanese language educators to Chinese people by searching and describing the similarities that they share beyond time and space. In this paper, 12 similar characteristics that they share in their paths in the Japanese language education and in two different historical backgrounds are discussed.
