Achievement goal theory (AGT) has been applied to examine the individual's motivation and behavioral response in physical activity. With the theoretical development and refinement, AGT has been expended to 3×2 structures, and has been examined literaturely in academic setting. The present article aimed to discuss the theoretical background regarding the development from 2-dimension to 6-dimension construct, as well as the application of 3×2 AGT in physical activity to improve the theoretical development and the practical benefits.
