In Mandarin Chinese and Spanish nominal phrases, the combination of noun and color adjective is considered the result of lexicalization. In Mandarin Chinese, this lexical form has a relatively higher productivity than in Spanish, because the compounds present the relationship of an entity belonging to a particular class of realities. In Spanish this trend toward the classification is not a typical word formation process, because these Spanish equivalents correspond to a simple and primitive noun. Furthermore, in Mandarin Chinese these color adjectives with intentional value represent an inherent attribute by the designation of nouns and lack of classifier function.
