How should we evaluate the appreciation and collection of ancient jade? From the broad perspectives of today, there are at least the following four dimensions. First how are the quality and value of jade established. Secondly, how do we identify the production date, shape, name, and social and cultural value of jades. Thirdly, from the perspective of humanistic and artistic evaluation. Ultimately, however, it is necessary to focus on cultural asset preservation (Is art priceless or not?). The former involves mainly problems of mineralogy or substantive material, but it can only solve the material identification problem of whether an item is a jade or a stone; it is only part of the issue of identification. Both concern the cultural art of cultural appreciation and the aesthetic taste of the times, ultimately depending on points of view and missions of cultural assets preservation and maintenance to share the experience. This article aims to discuss the problems of appreciation and preservation from the perspective of the above four dimensions.
