Taiwan is facing the challenges of an aging population. The changes in population structure and low birth rates have impacted the safety and stability of Taiwan's society. The baby boomers turned aged 65 years in 2011. Inadequate social support for the aging population could result in social chaos. We need to examine ways to assist them in the transitioning process, specifically, their willingness to engage in lifelong learning, innovativeness, and gerotranscendence. These are crucial factors to a smooth transitioning. It is a typical stereotype that individuals are more stubborn as they become older, particularly, they are skeptical of innovations. However, individuals are more likely to respond to ideas through different "media", and thus present various degrees of innovation acceptance. Gerotranscendence, an innovaotive concept/strategy, is the key to aging in a fast-paced and dynamic society. This skill will allow elderly to gain stability in a time when welfare system is subject to political challenges. The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of diffusion of innovation in seniors' innovativeness forward gerotranscendence. The structure is as follows: 1) Preface. 2) The importance of innovativeness for seniors. 3) Gerotranscendence as the key to success. 4) The impact of diffusion of innovation on gerotranscendence. 5) The path to enhance elderly innovativeness. 6) Conclusion.
