采用同形異義詞干擾任務考察第二語言水平對英語–漢語單通道雙語者和英語–美國手語雙通道雙語者語言抑制能力的影響。結果發現:(1)高水平英語–漢語單通道雙語者的語言抑制能力較強,但低水平英語–漢語單通道雙語者與英語單語者的語言抑制能力沒有顯著差異,說明少量的雙語經驗不足以導致雙語認知優勢;(2)不同水平的英語–美國手語雙通道雙語者的語言抑制能力差異不顯著。所以如此,與英語–美國手語雙通道雙語者不存在口語和手語的雙語表征加工競爭有關。整個研究表明,雙語認知優勢效應與雙語者的二語水平以及通道經驗有關。
