本篇文章主要是從歐洲聯盟的整合歷程與經驗，分析兩岸在其相互關係的推展過程上，可否藉由整合理論抑或理性國際制度（International institution）的設計，來尋求整合的契機。作者希冀透過歷史情境與理論的內容分析，來探討歐洲聯盟的整合模式與制度的設計，對於兩岸進一步的和解與合作，能形成多大的效益。此外，透過經濟、政治層面的整合態勢，剖析兩岸關係是否具有實際可行的方案，以作為開展實質關係的途徑。
Many scholars use the experience of European Union to explore the future of the Taiwan Strait, including economic and political field. These articles analyze the historical condition of the European Union and try to use the desing of international institutions to suggest the practical resolution.
