921災後的重建，是特殊的地方建構。大量破壞，快速重建，不同於歷史緩慢積累的地方建構過程，並且由於擁有相對豐富的自然物質性，地方建構發揮了實在與建構的作用。台中市大坑地區因為擁有獨特的地形、以及歷史的行政劃界，積累出特定的地方想像及地方認同。尤其1976年的風景區劃界，給了地方新的符象(台中市後花園)、新的認同領域(風景區)、新的遊憩空間(觀光遊樂區)。921災後的大坑，由於位處都市，擁有相對的資源爭取優勢，大量的補助計畫及新的資本形式(溫泉業)湧入大坑，經由計劃及其衍生的宣傳廣告、網站、媒體報導一系列的再現，一個新的外在想像正在浮現。 本文研究方法是以災後重建計畫，以及衍生的報導、網站、地景等文本，作為主要的分析對象，並輔以部分已執行計畫，觀察再現、自然、尺度相互關聯的地方建構。首先，釐清大坑歷史行政的演變與地方認同，以及分析1980年代後，由於台灣都市納入全球化，所肇致大坑複雜的社會經濟關係，以明大坑地區特定性。其次，以本文擬定的再現、自然、尺度分析架構，詮釋地方重建中的地方建構歷程，以及相互關係。最後，結語本文經驗性的發現，與學術發展進程的理論貢獻。
Post-921earthquake's reconstruction of place is also a particular place construction. It's different from other kind of place construction, due to massive deconstruction, rapid reconstruction, and abundant natural materiality. With particular natural landform and historical administrative boundary, Taken accumulates specific place imagination and place identity. Moreover, drawing a new boundary on Taken scenic resort in 1976 gives the place a new symbol (ex Taichung city's backgarden), a new identity territory (ex scenic area), and a new recreational space (ex tourist and recreational area). Being located in the city, post-earthquake's Taken receives relative priority of requesting resources, so that a great number of plans and new capital forms (ex hot springs industry) surge into Taken. The new place imagination is emerging through a series of representation of plans, advertisements, websites and media reports on Taken. This study means to analyze the texts from plans, advertisements, websites, media reports, and to observe interaction among representation, nature, scale of place construction of executed plans. Firstly, to understand Taken's specificity, it is necessary to describe evolution of historical administrative boundary and analyzes after 1980s Taken's complex social- economic context under globalization. Secondly, it examines the place construction from the analytic structure of interrelationship among representation, nature, scale. Thirdly, it concludes empirical outcomes and theoretical contributions on the geography knowledge process.
