Enhancing cultural practice is among the most important municipal policies. Performance space allows the demonstration and expression of cultural and artistic presentation. “Culture, Economics, and International City” has been Taichung City’s administrational goal since the year of 2001, and as a response, expansion and construction of large performance space have been done. This research uses the Lefebvre’s production of space theory to investigate representation of space and space of representation of the performance space and further discusses the impact on the cultural economy. Based on Taichung City’s performance space, this research has made several conclusions: 1. the combination of outdoor space and performance space has displayed a more openly fashioned living space as a whole, 2.large cultural activities are used as a form of advertisement for the city, 3. the space of representation showed by the general public, celebrities, politics, religions and life style 4. the overall elevation of the general public’s life quality and cultural participation.
