The Purpose of the study was to understand communication behaviors of tandem kayak paddlers and the development of their relationships. The Objects of the study were twelve graduate students who had kayak tourism to and fro between Donggang and Liouciou for two days. Questionnaires about communication behaviors and relationship with the bow-stern dyad were completed after the tourism each day. The result showed that bow paddlers and stern paddlers play different roles because of their different duties. Most of tandem paddlers' communication behaviors were task-oriented acts. As for relationship between tandem paddlers, they help and cared for each other spontaneously and had mutuality, interdependence, unifying for companions. However, the study also found that paddlers were not acquainted with every aspect of their companions because of the communication motive. According to the above-mentioned results, the researcher made some discussions for the results and proposed suggestions for practitioners.
