中國大陸在1979年實施經濟改革開放以來，外商直接投資一直扮演著相當重要的角色，而中國各地區吸引外商直接投資的因素是否有所不同，一直都是學界亟欲探討與了解。因此，本文利用1993-2006年10個對中國投資最多的國家（地區）之追蹤資料(Panel Data)，分別對北京、上海與廣東進行隨機效果模型(Random-effect Model)估計，以探究北京、上海及廣東吸引外商直接投資的決定因素，並比較此決定因素在此三省市的差異。估計結果顯示，影響外商直接投資北京的因素為相對工資率與相對借貸成本；影響外商直接投資上海的因素僅僅為相對匯率；最後，影響外商直接投資廣東的因素為相對工資率、對廣東之貿易依存度、相對借貸成本，以及相對國家風險。此外，在控制其他因素後，北京與廣東的外商直接投資有下降的趨勢。
This study aims to investigate the determinants of FDI in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong, respectively. This study further compares the determinants among these three regions (one province and two municipalities). Using the panel data of 10 largest countries (regions) investing in China from 1993-2006 and estimating the random-effect model of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangdong, respectively, this study finds that relative wage rate and relative borrowing cost are important factors of attracting foreign direct investment in Beijing. In addition, as foreign investors make decision of investing in Shanghai, relative exchange rate is the only considerable factor. Regarding the determinants of FDI in Guangdong, there are relative wage rate and relative borrowing cost, trade dependence to Guangdong, and relative national risk. It is also found that the foreign direct investment has shown a downward trend in both Beijing and Guangdong after controlling other variables.
