聚落產生之競爭力優勢，一直是臺灣廠商賴以成長及創新的主要來源，尤其是廠商面對經濟危機時更能顯現其效益。台商在兩岸群聚的發展過程中，因聚落競爭力而帶動的廠商成長與績效表現，需要有研究學者投入更多及有系統的跨領域研究。該『聚落競爭力與台商全球佈局』專刊總共收錄了三篇具特色之論文，分別探討臺灣廠商如何在不同產業聚落中，藉由聚落外部性創造廠商的成長與績效。本文除扼要介紹收錄論文的特色與貢獻外，並檢討聚落與廠商競爭力的相關研究，據以拋磚引玉激勵管理學術社群進行更多跨領域的合作與對話。

The competitive advantage derived from agglomeration or clustering has been an important source of growth and innovation for many Taiwanese firms, particularly when facing economic crises. It is therefore necessary for scholars to invest in more systematic and interdisciplinary research that examines Taiwanese firms developing cross-strait industrial clusters and the effects of this process on firm competitiveness and growth. In order to promote such research, this special issue contains three articles related to“Cluster Competitiveness and Global Deployment of Taiwanese Firms”that present quality research efforts investigating the clustering process of Taiwanese firms in different industries and their pursuit of growth and superior performance. In addition to highlighting the content and contribution of each paper, this introduction also discusses related clustering and performance research. Implications and suggestions for future research are also proposed, with the hope of stimulating discussion and interdisciplinary cooperation within the community of management academics in order to facilitate the study of clusters and firm competitiveness.
