在全球化的教育市場當中，世界型的大學排名成為各大學標示其教學、研究之品質與實力的指標，它的排名結果對一所大學能否吸引優秀的學生入學，有著決定性的作用。俄羅斯兩所最重要的國家研究型大學─莫斯科國立大學與聖彼得堡國立大學，在2015年由英國《泰晤士報高等教育》所公布的世界大學排名中，繳出了亮眼的成績單，不僅莫斯科大學進入了世界大學排名的前50名，聖彼得堡大學也進入了前100名。如此斐然的成績，展現了俄羅斯近年來發展高等教育、著力提升大學排名的成果。然而，俄羅斯的高等教育若有意持續提高大學競爭力，並提升大學排名，它仍須面對並解決現有教育環境的難題，而「培育學術人才並防止人才流失」以及「高等教育邁向國際化」將會是兩個重要的發展方向。

In today’s competitive global education market, world university rankings deeply infl uence the recruitment of students worldwide. Lomonosov Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University, the most important universities in Russia, have made a great leap in World University Rankings according to Times Higher Education (rankings released in 2015). This fact shows that Russian universities have made great progress in their efforts to improve the quality of research and teaching. However, Russian higher education still needs to fi nd a solution for attracting academics and for speeding up internationalization.
