針對十二年國民基本教育是否應將本土語言在國中階段由選修改為必修之議題，本文特從多元文化角度論述本土語言教學之必要性及國語政策所造成之影響，以呈現多元文化教育與本土語言之關聯性及國中改為必修之重要性。接著，本文再呈現本土語言教學所做之問卷調查結果，說明已實施十二年之本土語言教學成效與未來發展的條件。最後，則就爭取國中本土語言必修過程的爭議做摘要介紹，以呈現正反論爭，並論述本土語言應在國中列為必修的理由。

Native language learning should be optional or required course in junior high school is the issue in Curriculum Guidelines for 12-year compulsory education. From multicultural perspectives and national language policy, we found that learning native language in Taiwan is important. With the support of two surveys about native language learning, we know what we fight for our children and what we could do for our generation.
