Since Taiwan is surrounded by water, it is important to provide marine education in Taiwan. Marine education is introduced by integrating important marine issues into a curriculum. The 12-Year Basic Education Curriculum Guideline focuses on core competencies to develop curriculum and integrate issues in various subjects. Marine education is the key issue for the 12-Year Basic Education Curriculum Guideline. This research was conducted through an aesthetic-oriented art course with marine education issues integrated in an elementary school located near the sea in Yilan County. A local fishing village culture and marine art are introduced with information and field trip, leading students to experience the aesthetics of local living. Special pictures and tabletop game featuring local marine culture are created for exploring the design and teaching approach of integrating marine education into an art course and learning outcomes. The following research results were obtained: 1. integrating marine education into an art course helps students know and appreciate community culture arts; 2. the use of digital tools improves the results of integrating marine education into an art course; and 3. innovative tabletop game boosts student interest.
