Meiling GONG is a pioneer of reading therapy for depression related to childhood trauma. Based on Professor GONG’s book compatibility of depression caused by childhood trauma, this article discusses how a reading therapist elaborately choose books on bibliotherapy theory, traditional Chinese medicine theory, anti-depression, and autobiographies of depression patients in order to enhance his/her professional ability and pursue more effective treatment for the depression caused by childhood trauma. Professor Gong’s theory of compatible books in treating depression has significance in practice.
