本文之目的在透過對美國主要人力資源個體時間序列資料庫之一的 NLS調查之介紹，說明人力資源個體時間序列資料對學術研究之貢獻，並進一步 由美國的經驗來看國內欲建立人力資源個體時間序列資料庫注意之主要事項。以 Brown(1980)一文為例，本文首先說明個體時間序列資料因為兼具構剖面資料與時 間序列資料的特性，對勞動經濟學研究深度發展之具體貢獻。再就「婦女勞動供 給」與「工作搜尋」兩大課題討論個體時間序列資料之研究應用價值。此兩大課 題與國內當前勞動市場所面臨的重要問題--勞動短缺與高學歷高失業率現象一 息息相關。因此國內若能建立一套人力資源個體時間序列資料庫，絕對有助於學 術界在這兩個課題上作更為廣泛而深入的研究。故本文最後即就調查宗旨 樣本 問題、執行方式與資料的處理和發行等方面，來探討國內欲建立人力資源個體時 間序列資料庫應注意之重點。

　　　　　This paper presents the contribution of human resource panel datasets to academic research by introducing the U.S. experience withthe NLS data,, and discussing the prospect of building such datasets in Taiwan. Using Brown (1980) as an example, this study il-lustrates the unique feature of panel data that leads to in-depthdevelopments in labor economics. The value of panel data in ap-plied research is shown by progress in research on "female labor supply" and "job search". These two areas are closely related tomajor labor market issues such as Taiwan's labor shortage and highunemployment rate for the highly educated. Dramatic progress inresearch in these areas is expected if human resource panel datasets could be established. Finally, some important issues regardingsurvey purpose, sampling design, execution method, and survey issuance are considered as preparation toward building such data setsin Taiwan.
