觀諸歐美先進國家的文獻，社會排除之分析，由理論的論戰而至社會排除的實證分析。在研究的方法論上，除辯證及演繹的方法運用外，亦採質化或量化研究方法進行分析。儘管社會排除的論戰、實證分析皆已在先進國家如火如荼的進行著，然而，筆者在閱讀西方文獻時，常思維這些社會排除議題對臺灣個案的意含為何？ 本文旨在著眼於空間的排除觀點，以社子地區為例，解析居住之區域影響公民的福利資源之需求及福利資源供給。並探討當前歐洲及英國如何運用區域網絡服務模式以打擊社會排除，其中，解析區域網絡服務模式對協助被空間排除之區域的政策意含為何？並運用區域網絡服務模式，針對資源配置與再配置的需求提出政策性的建言。 因之，本文之重要性，可透過空間概念解析社會排除議題，對於尋求臺灣社會福利的需求及空間變數等可確實掌握並進行深入的分析，以使服務提供時釐清案主群及服務需求者之區域分布之趨同與差異性，以使改革策略得以推動，服務得以提供。
