本文主要是在回顧國外步道遊憩資源衝擊研究文獻，其中以研究成果較多的美國與澳洲之研究內容，瞭解國外在此研究的主題與方法，並以土壤與植群的環境衝擊作為探討的焦點。目的在透過對國外重要的步道環境衝擊研究之文獻回顧，以瞭解國內的步道衝擊研究的主題及方法與國外研究的差異，並整理步道環境衝擊研究所運用的指標，歸納影響衝擊的指標與因子的種類，進而提出可供國內相關研究者，在進行步道環境衝擊研究時的參考，與未來可能的研究方向。本文提出國內未來可以加強的研究方向有：(1)研究法的改進與新方法的提出。(2)結合科技應用在步道調查。(3)步道鋪面類型對生態或遊客的影響。
