The purpose of this study was to investigate the important factors affecting golf enthusiasts' golf participation and important behavioral factors affecting health promotion lifestyle. This study analyzed the variables of golf enthusiasts' self-perceived health status and the difference in health promotion lifestyle, and tested the relationship between golf participation experience and health promotion lifestyle. This study selected the golf enthusiasts playing golf at golf courses with standard 18 holes as the subjects. In terms of research method, this study used purposive cluster sampling to conduct the questionnaire survey. The effective sample size was 252 subjects. This study used descriptive statistics and inferential statistics to perform empirical analyses on the collected data. The research results were as follows: (1) Among the factors affecting golf participation experience, participation motivation was most significantly affected by health promotion, followed by interests in sports. Self-efficacy was most significantly affected by avoidance of sports injuries, followed by complete sports equipment. Behavioral outcome was most significantly affected by no drinking and driving, followed by continuing regular exercise. (2) The order of the important behaviors factors affecting health promotion from the highest level of implementation to the lowest one were: recreational sports, health responsibility, interpersonal relationship, nutritional habit, spiritual growth and stress management. (3) There was a significant difference in the implementation of health promotion lifestyle of golf enthusiasts with different self-perceived health status. The implementation of health promotion lifestyle of patients with diabetes was significantly superior to that of healthy population. (4) When the golf participation experience behavioral model was more positive, the implementation level of health promotion lifestyle was higher. According to the research results and research findings, this study proposed practical suggestions for follow-up studies, which may help promote recreational sports to people in Taiwan, enhance the confidence in sports therapy and improve the implementation of health promotion lifestyle.
