　　　　　本研究旨在依據Johnson和Johnson(1984, 1987, 1990)提出的合作學習方法─「共同學習(Learning Together)」，設計一套適合國中三年級地球科學科可使用的短期合作學習課程，並比較此方式和「演講式教學法」對國三學生在學習地球科學單元─「地層記錄地質事件」的影響。本研究係以學生得分（後測—前測）平均來考驗實驗組和控制組學生的學習成效是否有差異；除考驗兩組總得分，並依前測成績將學生分為高、中、低三群來比較兩組的差異。此外並設計問卷，以瞭解實驗組學生對合作學習的看法。最後本研究結果指出：合作學習可以促進學生在課堂上思考的機會，使學生在需要高層次思考的學習內容，有較高的學習成就（複雜判斷、統整題得分優於控制組，且達統計之顯著差異）；而且合作學習將學習的責任交予學生，培養學生積極主動的求知精神，提高學生對地球科學的興趣，是地球科學教育值得嚐試的新方向。
