The purpose of this article is to explore teachers' professional authority from the perspecyives of professional competence, professional autonomy and professional ethics. Firstly, this article defines the terms of professional competence, professional autonomy and professional ethics. Then it discusses the relationship among professional competence, professional autonomy and professional ethics. Next, it examines teachers' professional authority which depends on professional competence, professional autonomy and professional ethics. And then, it analyzes factors which influence the development of professional competence, professional autonomy and professional ethics. Finally, it provides suggestions for improving teachers' professional authority.
