This paper is a study on the concept of qingwen, literary grace displayed from the author's affection and thought, in Liu Xie's Wen Xin Diao Long. First, the basis of qingwen will be searched for. Second, Liu Xie's inner world which qingwen expressed will be further searched through his literary ambition to benefit the world, through his ideal of his work to be handed down for generations and his anxiety of it, and through the refining of writing and the sharing of the joy and sorrow of it. Thus, the humanism and the literary ideal of Liu Xie's Wen Xin Diao Long are revealed. This aims to find a thread of though of the literary grace of content, besides the literary grace of forms. This thread of though not only annotates the way to establishing literary grace, but also examines the idea that content and form are equally emphasized in Wen Xin Diao Long.
