Based on the readings and the interpretations of "Gong Yang Zhuan" and "Gu Liang Zhuan", this paper will analyze the definitions, the qualifications and the responsibilities of "Hegemony" in the respective texts. The "Five Hegemonies" will be examined to see if they conform to the standards mentioned above. Among the "Five Hegemonies", Duke Huan of Qi and Duke Wen of Jin are qualified as "Hegemony." Unlike the depreciatory view of Mencius and Xuncius, "Gong Yang Zhuan" and "Gu Liang Zhuan" hold an appreciative attitude toward "Hegemony." The specific terminology "Endorsed Hegemony" is quoted from "Gong Yang Zhuan" and "Gu Liang Zhuan."
