This study incorporates a regression analysis based on Baron and Kenny's (1986) recommendations, and results showed that (1) motivation is negatively related to vocational-oriented university students’ foreign language reading anxiety, (2) motivation is positively related to vocational-oriented university students’ English academic performance, (3) foreign language reading anxiety is negatively related to vocational-oriented university students’ English academic performance, and (4) foreign language speaking anxiety do not mediate the relationship between motivation and English academic performance.
This study also aims to investigate whether foreign language reading anxiety mediates the relation among self-efficacy, and academic performance. Results showed that (1) self-efficacy is negatively related to vocational-oriented university students’ foreign language reading anxiety, (2) self-efficacy is positively related to vocational-oriented university students’ English academic performance, (3) foreign language reading anxiety is negatively related to vocational-oriented university students’ English academic performance, and (4) foreign language reading anxiety mediate the relationship between self-efficacy and English academic performance.
