In recent years, a heated discourse on nationalism can be found in forums on China’s Internet, allowing people to discuss relevant issues and topics which had been strictly censored by the Party and state. In this article, the authors choose the “Tianyaclub.com” forum as their case study, using fantasy theme analysis to investigate the kinds of fantasy themes and fantasy types one can find in the discussions regarding Japan and China-Japan relations. Moreover, in these discussions, what particular rhetoric visions could be established? At the same time, the author also attempts to find out whether or not the discourses on nationalism in forums on China’s Internet corresponded to official statements.
