「餪房」禮俗，雖不見於禮經，然文獻典籍多所記載，散見吉凶禮俗之中；喜慶祝賀有之，喪葬祭奠亦有之；判若天淵之屬性，皆以「餪房」稱之，故而有以乖舛不經視之，亦有以無禮訾之。 遷居入新宅，親朋醵金治具，過主人飲之，謂之「餪房」；嫁女三日送食「餪女」，謂之「餪房」；婚期前夕鋪房、壓床，謂之「餪房」；夫婦合卺、婚宴賀婚、謔親鬧房，謂之「餪房」；孝子秉「事死如事生，事亡如事存」之心，將先人遷入幽宅，謂之「餪房」；均由「餪房」而衍生，無論吉凶，入宅溫居，皆屬「餪房」。或以事涉吉凶，全以「餪房」名之，出於俚俗，不可為訓；殊不知「餪房」禮俗，世俗皆以涵義複雜，宛若轇轕不清，然細繹其理，皆有其脈絡可循，非圓鑿而方枘，鉏鋙而難入也。 「餪房」一詞，雖散見於吉凶禮俗之中，然世俗多未能探源竟委，亟待釐清，故思鉤玄探賾，爰裒集文獻，爬梳董理，期能剖析「餪房」禮俗之全豹，彰顯「餪房」禮俗之演變。

"House warming" rituals, though not found in classics of rites, appeared in popular literature and books. The rituals were found in the wedding and funeral customs. Two totally different behaviors were both termed "house warming". Therefore it seems to be absurd and rude. When move into the new house, relatives and friends send presents of the feast and drink with the host, called the "house warming". Send food to the daughter who married three days ago, so called "daughter warming", also called "house warming". Set up bed at wedding eve called the "house warming". Husband and wife drink together, send wedding greeting and banter by friends and relatives during the bridal night also called the "house warming". To uphold the spirit "treat dead as treat health, dead as living", move dead to grave also called "house warming". People may argue that "house warming" was improperly involved in wedding and funeral customs. However the rituals can be deduced from relative contexts and have their specific meaning. "House warming" rituals, though appeared in wedding and funeral customs, have not been studied clearly. In this study, the documents related to the rituals were reviewed and analyzed thoroughly so that the evolution of "house warming" rituals can be understand completely.
