本文以傳統目錄學者的觀念來探討傳統文人對文言小說內涵及定位的看法，試圖釐清小說在虛∕實、史∕子之間，其歷史發展之脈絡整體的演變。另外，《漢志》是正史中編制目錄的開始，是古典目錄中有史志體裁的開始。由於《漢志》的影響，此後正史裡有藝文志或經籍志的還有六家，即：《隋書．經籍志》四卷、舊《唐書．經籍志》二卷、《新唐書．藝文志》四卷、《宋史．藝文志》八卷、《明史．藝文志》四卷、《清史稿．藝文志》四卷。這種國家目錄和史志目錄成為官修目錄的兩大主幹，本文著重在探討漢至宋代之間傳統文人對小說分類的觀點，進而釐清其內涵而與定位，故以《漢志》、《隋志》、舊《唐志》、《新唐志》為討論的範疇。

This kind of national catalogue and Annals directory become the two main trunk of the official repair catalogue, This article focuses on discussing the traditional Literati's view of the novel classification between Han and Song dynasty, and then clarify its connotation and orientation, so it is the category of ＂Han-Zhi＂, ＂Sui-Zhi＂, Old ＂Tang-Zhi＂ and ＂New Tang-Zhi＂.
