There were a group of women who were called Geidan, during the period when Taiwan was under the rule of Japan. According to historical research, in conjunction with the movement of the era, they had significant impact on custom and literature of that time. For these reasons, by casting light on Geidan, who located on the periphery of society, yet the bearers of performing arts and also creator of custom, culture, is a method to evaluate Taiwan's history of culture and society. Nowadays, research about the culture and literature of Taiwan during Japan Japan's Rule Period has made a rapid progress. Hence, it has huge significance to clarify the real image of Geidan which is beyond modern Japanese's common sense and understanding. As the starting point about the prostitutes in Chinese mainland, this article argues how did Geidan appeared, what influence they received from Japan, and the process how they changed。|日本統治時代の台湾においては、「芸妲」と称される女性たちがいた。史料を見ると、「芸妲」は時代の動きと連動して、風俗や文学に大きな影響を与えていたことがわかる。このため、社会の周縁に位置し、芸能を担い、風俗や文化を生み出していった「芸妲」に眼を向けることで、台湾の文化史、社会史研究として評価することができるのではないと考える。日本統治時代の台湾の文化や文学の研究が進んでいる現在、現代日本人の常識の範囲内で理解されがちであった「芸妲」の実像を明らかにしておくことは決して無駄ではないだろう。これらがこの論考に通底する問題意識である。そこで、本論では中国大陸の妓女の歴史を起点とし、「芸妲」がどのように誕生し、さらに日本からどのような影響を受け、どう変化していったのかについて考察していきたい
