River terraces have existed along Tou-chien River can be recognized nine surfaces includ-ing six lateritic surfaces and three non-Jateritic surfaces. They are correlated as LH, LT and FT in the geomorphic surface system of Taiwan. The terraces have been metamorphosed by recent movement for example, lateritic terraces uplifted and formed 25-40 meters fault scarp by Hsin-cheng fault whereas 10 meters in lower non-lateritic terrace. The terraces of LT5 are titled to south by Hsin-chu fault. According to the results of terrace correlation, Tou-chien River shift-ed from south to north since late Pleistocene by the effect of Hsin-cheng fault. The evidence of fault scarp revealed that the neotectonic movement kept since LT3 to FT2 at least.
