特殊教育與醫療關係密切，不過障礙並非疾病，且身心障礙學生之多數障礙情況亦非醫療所能醫治，其所需要的是特殊教育之介入。本文論述特殊教育與醫療專業之間的分合關係。說明哪些障礙類別或情況需醫療或醫事人員之介入，哪些屬於特殊教育之介入範圍，哪些需雙方之專業整合。特殊教育與醫療，各自皆有其專業領域與限制，過度醫療化或教育化皆不恰當。
The main idea of this thesis emphasizes that disability is not illness. Although some disabilities need medication or collaboration with special education, most disabilities need special education not medical treatment. The author reviewed the correlation between special education and medication, and concerns the medicalization of special education.
