This paper aims to discuss how Lei Zhen endeavored to get greater and more constant international publicity for Taiwan with his ambitious vision and humanistic spirits by taking Lei Zhen's two visits to Hong Kong as examples. The fact that Lei Zhen helped found Hong KongTimes and was the committee member/secretary of Hong Kong Times Management Committee is neglected in Kuomintang's historical records. Therefore, this paper rediscovers the historical fact to illustrate the founding and originating background of this influential newspaper and its literary supplement in Hong Kong's literary field. Also, due to Lei Zhen's advice, Ministry of Education had subsidized Chien Mu 3,000 Hong Kong Dollars a month for four years, which helped New Asia College to overcome the financial difficulty. Lei Zhen visited Hong Kong twice to conduct a survey of the intellectuals of the third force. He also established ties with Zhang Pi-jie and Hsu Fu-kuan and expressed support to them, which improved the relationship between Kuomintang government and the third force. Research shows, Lei Zhen played a crucial role before and after 1949 in building the imagined communities of Free China for Taiwan through Hong Kong newspapers and educational institutions.
