Under the framework of "lyrical tradition", this literary concept examines the lyrical connotation of female prose in Taiwan from the 1980s. The concept is used to analyze the female essayists in Taiwan in the 1950s whose inheritance and establishment of the May 4th lyrical literary tradition, and after that, how the lyrical tradition alters in female essays of different generations, to deduce the lyric qualities that belong to each era. What essentially are the factors that influence the lyrical connotation of female prose from the
1980s?
From the research process of this article, "lyricism" has long been internalized in the traditional poetics of Chinese literature and has been "transformed" and "invented" into different literary fields in different eras and different contexts, achieving sensationalism. The motivation of the enthusiasm of the self for each "present" and "instant" of the subject. Therefore, either implicit or explicit lyrical energy cannot be underestimated, especially under the enlightenment of modernity. In the 1980s, the lyrical connotation of female prose was passed through the record of female life growth, family history, private self and space with the form of fetishes and roaming writing, or writing through the cuisine - reflect the value of women in the way of introspective self-viewing; on the other hand, the lyrical connotation of female prose is also based on the geographical movement of travel, caring environmental ethics public issues, or resisting the disregard of authoritarianism, using words to slap the sins of the word--this kind of extroverted criticism reveals the woman''s intrusion into society; even the so-called Zhang-Quang female writers who misunderstood the desolation and femininity of Eileen Zhang''s works, they had changed from the revived in the 1980s to the "lady’s resentment" of the female writers in the 1950s. Whether it is the introspective self-life, the outward-oriented critique of the society, or the lyrical discourses that female essayists had misunderstood Eileen Zhang''s aesthetics since the 1950s, were all female prose and the lyric connotation in the 1980s.
From this point of view, " lyricism", as the core value of a Chinese literary tradition, no matter what cultural field or context it is embodied in, it should be a "tradition" that is advancing with the times and dynamic, and the definition of "tradition" in the interpretation of "lyricism", it is not old, but innovative, and we also see an impetus towards women''s self-pursuit and self-realization motivation in the lyric connotation of the diversification of female prose in the 1980s.
