The main goal of French adult education is to improve the economic development and to settle the problem of unemployment. The aims of the research are to explore the French adult competence test system which develops under the architecture of adult and continuing training. It is emphasized that this system strongly concerns the changes of job and the promotion of professional career. After the law in 1991 voted, all adults can participate into this system to realize their competences. The factors influenced the emergence of competence test system, the process of the legislation and the present dispositions are the main focuses in this research. Furthermore, from the viewpoint of adult competence test, the implications for the individual participants, enterprises and the vocational training are concluded.
