此研究之目的在於調查並且有系統的歸納臺灣地區英語學習者，日常生活中英語發音偏差的現象。本研究所使用之臺灣地區英語語音樣本，來自臺灣當地廣播節目、南臺灣某車站之列車到站廣播，和機場、航空公司、電信公司、學校等機構的總機系統語音。研究結果顯示，影響臺灣地區人口的英語發音的因素如下：受普通話語音系統的影響、以相似語音取代、省略中文沒有的英文發音、和談判英文發音，其中以誤判英語母音的複雜規則現象較為常見。最後列舉相關教學方法，讓英語教師參考，希冀能幫助學生避免英語發音偏差之錯誤。

The aim of this study is to investigate and to describe systematically the English speech deviations of some Taiwanese learners in daily communication. Recorded samples of Taiwanese English speech for this study were collected from a local TV broadcast program, the public announcement system of a local public transportation system, and the English switchboard systems of several institutions. The results indicate that English speech by Taiwanese is affected to a large extent by the Chinese sound system through substitutions of Chinese sounds for English ones, omissions of English sounds that are foreign to Taiwanese, and misjudgment of the English pronunciation, especially of vowels, due to the intricate rules in English that determine sounds. Finally, possible solutions to the speech deviations are suggested for teachers to help students who are eager to improve their English pronunciation.
