《明心寶鑑》成書的年代應於明•洪武八年至二十六年(A.D.1375~1393)間，在A.D.1441年已廣為流行，進而被收進「文淵閣」的國家藏書之列。現存的清州本《明心寶鑑》原文後存有〈跋〉，特別是卷末有「景泰五年甲戌(A.D1454)十一月初吉奉直郎清州儒學校教授官庾得和謹跋」之文字，說明了清州本《明心寶鑑》傳入朝鮮的年代。〈跋〉文中亦載有A.D.1393年以前存在的資料，其云「此書但有唐本，監司閔相國思欲廣布」，這亦顯示在朝鮮「清州本」(A.D.1454)之前還有「唐本」（中國刊本）存在之事實，而至此時始有韓國刊本。關於《明心寶鑑》一書傳入朝鮮的年代與管道之討論，至今仍甚少得到學者之關注。據本文之考述，由明人范立本所輯之《明心寶鑑》，極有可能藉明使金宥、金興於明•景泰三年(A.D.1452)出使朝鮮的管道傳至朝鮮，並於明•景泰五年甲戌(A.D.1454)時，由當時影響性最大的閔騫署名，在朝鮮清州刊刻流傳，這也是今日所見最早的《明心寶鑑》之全文刊本。
