     本文討論義務型、利他型、和權利型請求句。獨立變項為請求類型及地理差異[ 美國、新加坡、臺灣 ],依變項為請求用語。卡方檢定為推論的基礎。本研究的發現是美式 英語及新加坡英語隨著請求類型從義務型,變到利他型,變到權利型而使用祈使句的頻率顯 著下降;臺式英語的祈使句的使用頻率在義務型和利他型無顯著差異。三地區人說英語在權 利型的請求有一個共同特色:傳統間接請求句用得頻率最高。 ed to fill in the production questionnaire. Not all of the responses are valid, but most are. The data were filled out in English, collected from Michigan State University, National University of Singapore, and National Chung Hsing Universtiy. The independent variables are the type of request (obligatory, altruistic, and right type), and the geographical differences (USA, Singapore and Taiwan). The dependent variables are the request utterances filled out. The Chi-square test is used for making inferenes. The first finding of the study is that the preference of the head of speech act varies with both the different types of the speech act and the area. The second finding is that in the three types of request, AE and SE people are different in their preferred types: the imperatives are used in reducing frequency from the obligatory to altruistic to right-type request. However, in TE group, only in right-type request do they use fewer imperatives; they are not different in the obligatory and altruistic request. The study will benefit intercultural communications and increase the English communicative competence of EFL learners in Taiwan.
