     「合作」是人類賴以生存的法則。社會心理學家對人類合作行為的研究可溯自1920年代,而真正將合作之原理應用於班級教學,則起於1970年代。據國外大量實證研究發現,合作學習被廣泛應用於各年級、各學科,不同國度的班級教學;從傳統的讀、寫、算到新近的電腦輔助教學;從不同種族、社會階層的學生到迴歸主流的特殊兒童。證據顯示合作學習對學生學習成就、動機與態度均產生積極效果,甚至對增進團體間的人際關係、班級氣氛、改善社會技巧、種族關係亦有顯著效果。筆者有鑑於國內因升學主義掛帥造成教育環境充斥著競爭,以及學校教學多侷限於傳統的教學法,為使教學更趨多元化,因此推廣新 的教學模式,營造一個合作的學習環境,是教育上刻不容緩,也是筆者義不容辭的事。本文首先探討合作學習的涵義及其與傳統教學的比較;其次,探討合作學習的發展及理論基礎;再次介紹合作學習的方法;最後,以合作學習教學時所可能遭遇之困難及解決途徑作為全文之結語。
